Choose the location before the room
Daintree accommodation is spread across a rainforest region rather than gathered around a single park entrance. Daintree Village offers a river and village setting; Cow Bay, Diwan and Cape Tribulation are distinct bases in the northern rainforest region. Start by deciding whether your visit centres on the river or on the roads and walking routes beyond the ferry. A place described simply as being in the Daintree needs a closer look on the map.
For an independent stay, match the actual address to each day's route. Arriving at your accommodation and getting to a boardwalk are separate journeys. If you prefer an organised overnight visit, the two-day option on this page includes a stay in Cape Tribulation. For a visit based farther south, compare day trips from Port Douglas before committing to a northern base.

Daintree Village, Cow Bay, Diwan or Cape Tribulation?
Daintree Village for a river focus
The village suits an itinerary built around the Daintree River and its village jetty, where wildlife cruises form part of the local visitor experience. It is a different location from the northern coastal bases. Choose it for a river-focused stay, then plan any journey to Cape Tribulation as an outing involving the ferry. Use the river cruise guide to separate a wildlife boat trip from the vehicle crossing.
Cow Bay and Diwan for a northern base
Cow Bay and Diwan belong to the northern rainforest region, so consider them when your plans involve time beyond the river. Compare the precise accommodation address with the walks, activity meeting points and onward route on your list. Treat these as separate places rather than interchangeable labels for the same centre. Arrange local transport as part of choosing the room, especially if you plan to arrive by transfer.
Cape Tribulation for the coastal walks
Cape Tribulation makes sense when the cape and its walking routes are the focus of your stay. Kulki gives access to the coastal viewpoint, while Dubuji combines rainforest walking with a branch towards Myall Beach. A coastal location calls for shoreline safety rather than a swimming itinerary: park guidance warns about stingers and crocodile habitat throughout the year. Read the Cape Tribulation guide when choosing your walking stops.

A two-day stay in Cape Tribulation
This rainforest trip includes Cape Tribulation accommodation, a Daintree River wildlife cruise and lunch on the first day. Ziplining and reef snorkelling depend on the selected option.
Ferry access and transport during your stay
The road from the ferry to Cape Tribulation is accessible by two-wheel-drive vehicle, subject to conditions; rental permission is a separate matter to settle in your vehicle agreement. The crossing takes approximately 15 minutes including loading and unloading, with queueing additional. Allow room in your arrival plan for the ferry as well as the road journey. Download an online ticket's QR code before reaching the river.
A return crossing need not be made on the same day. In the 2026/27 tariff year, a car return costs 57 AUD and the return ticket is valid until 30 June of the relevant fee year. The ferry guide explains the crossing, while getting there covers transport choices. Before travel, read current Douglas Shire road updates and QPWS park alerts rather than building a tight arrival around an old journey estimate.
Camping at Noah Beach
Noah Beach has 15 numbered sites and a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights. Book and pay before arrival, and display your permit or booking proof. From 1 July 2026, camping costs 7.75 AUD per person per night or 31 AUD per family per night. The family category covers 1 or 2 adults with accompanying children under 18, up to 8 people in total; children under 5 camp free.
Vehicle suitability matters as much as site availability. The maximum height is 3.20 m, and tight bends and branches also restrict access. Large or tall campervans, buses and caravans are excluded. Bring drinking water, a stove and rubbish bags; composting toilets are provided. Open fires and generators are prohibited. Check availability and seasonal access for your intended dates through QPWS before making the campsite the fixed point of your route.
Mobile reception is unavailable at the campground. Save permits and route information offline and plan an additional means of emergency communication; the emergency number is 000. Keep the overnight kit separate from the walking bag so water, rain protection and essential documents are ready when you leave camp.
